APPARATUS

The NSFD has a variety of vehicles we use when we are dispatched to a call and depending on the nature of the call, chiefs may designate what apparatus should respond.  If the call is a confirmed fire, some members may even respond directly to the scene-which is why drivers should yield to vehicles with flashing blue lights.

When our members are operating the NSFD trucks, chief's vehicles or vessels, the first number used in the transmission is the number 7, a fire department in the 7th Division of Suffolk County on Long Island.  The next number on our vehicles is 4, and this identifies our department as North Sea.  For example, if engine #1 was calling dispatch, they would say "7-4-1."  The chief is "30", and the assistant chiefs are 7-4-31 and 7-4-32.  For consistency, this numbering system is used in all fire departments on Long Island.

The 7th Division includes Southampton, Sag Harbor, Bridgehampton,, Hampton Bays, East Quogue, Quogue, Westhampton Beach and Flanders.  In large mutual aid emergencies, we will assist any department on Long Island or even beyond.  Below are some the vehicles/assets we have in our fleet, including some of our antique fire trucks:
